Making products

Making Products covers recipes (Bill of Materials) and jobs (Manufacturing Orders), plus a simple reporting tab.

Before you start

  • Manufacturing module enabled (SettingsModules → related manufacturing / BoM options)
  • Finished product and component products exist in Products & stock
  • Components have stock before you produce

Steps

1. Open Making Products

  1. In the sidebar, click Making Products.
  2. Use the tabs: Bill of Materials (BoM), Manufacturing Orders (MO), and Reporting.

Part A — Bill of Materials (BoM)

2. Create a recipe

  1. On Bills of Materials, click + New BoM.
  2. Set:
    • Product to Manufacture (Select product...)
    • Quantity to Produce
    • Reference (e.g. BOM-001)
    • BoM Type: Manufacture this product or Kit
    • Company, Yield %, Scrap % as needed
  3. On Components, click + Add a line — set Component, Quantity, Scrap %, Unit.
  4. Optional: Operations / Miscellaneous tabs.
  5. Click Save Recipe (or Discard / ← Back to Recipes).

Later: search recipes, Open / Edit, or Delete.

Part B — Manufacturing Orders (MO)

3. Create and run an order

  1. Open Manufacturing Orders.
  2. Click + New MO.
  3. Choose Bill of Materials Recipe (Select recipe (BoM)...).
  4. Confirm Finished Product and set Target Quantity to Produce.
  5. Click Save Draft.

4. Confirm and produce

  1. Click Confirm (status moves toward production).
  2. Click Produce All when materials should be consumed.
  3. Enter ACTUAL PRODUCED QUANTITY (YIELD) / actual consumed on component lines as required.
  4. Click Mark as Done when finished.
  5. Use Cancel Produce or Close Details if you need to back out carefully.

Statuses you may see: Draft, Confirmed, Done.

Part C — Reporting

On Reporting, review widgets such as:

  • Total Runs Started
  • Completed Production Runs
  • Cumulative Materials Cost

And the grid Finished Goods Yields & Cost Summaries (MO, product, planned vs actual qty, cost, date).

What success looks like

  • BoM saved and listed under recipes
  • MO goes Draft → Confirmed → Done
  • Finished product stock increases; components decrease
  • Reporting shows the completed run
